Office Tour

February 8, 2009

This weekends class seemed to go by pretty quick.  We had to hand in a couple of papers and my team was also involved in two presentations.  I also liked that we had garbage plates for lunch.  A couple of people requested them and there they were!  I even liked the meaty hot sauce so much that I was thinking about putting some in a cup so that I could take it home, but decided not to in the end because I had already eaten too much (I also had like 15 muffins for breakfast).

My favorite part of the weekend had to be the team building field trip to one of our professor’s office during our break.  The office was not big enough for everyone that came so we entered in shifts.  It was very kind of him to show us where he works.  The trip was probably my favorite part of the weekend not because his office was anything special but because of the team building that went on, I actually spent most of the tour in the hallway with others.  Opportunities like these are a good way to get to know my professors and classmates more as people.  The conversations are always rich and diverse with a group like this.  I remember having a conversation with some people about what was better to drink out of; paper or plastic cups, and how much of the liquid actually gets absorbed by the paper cup, and how long that would take.  I also remember talking with others about my cd collection after seeing cds in the office.  Good Times.

  1. A good discussion on osmosis amongst scientist based professionals is always interesting to me. Being in the science and math field myself I always enjoy discussing what some of my friends call “nerdy” topics with others of a similar background.

Our professor Dr. Robyn was an excellent host to show us what it was like being in the academic realm. He really has a lot to offer!

  2. There were some great discussions that were held during the short office tour. It was rather interesting to learn that quite a few people in our class were avid viticulturists.
